Organization

The BPPI Board of Directors comprises senior experts and distinguished persons in conservation. They are responsible for the overall policy and important decision making. The Board of Directors appointed an Executive Director to coordinate the Board of Executives and the daily activities.

CHAIRPERSON

DR. SETYANTO P. SANTOSA

Setyanto P. Santosa (Gombong, 9 August 1946) has been Chairman of Board of Directors of the BPPI/Indonesian Heritage Trust, since September 2007. He currently serves as lecturer at Faculty of  Economics, Padjadjaran University in Bandung and Commissioner of PT. Indosat. In the past he held several positions including Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Culture & Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia (2001 -2002), Executive Chairman of Indonesia Culture & Tourism Agency (2002-2003), Deputy Minister for State Owned Enterprises (1998-2000), Secretary General of ASEAN Chambers of Commerce and Industry (1996-1998), CEO of PT. Telkom Indonesia (1992-1996), CEO of PT. INTI - Indonesian Telecoms Industry (1989-1992), President Commissioners of Pasific Satellite Nusantara (1993-1997), Commissioner of Satelindo (1993-1996), Commissioner of Bank Bumi Daya (1998-2000) and Member of Indonesia People Assembly (1998-2000). He earned his undegraduate degree from Faculty of Economics Padjadjaran University in 1971, and Master’s degree in Economics from Michigan State University, East Lansing, USA in 1978, and Doctorate degree in Interdisciplinary Science from Gadjah Mada University in 2007.

VICE CHAIRPERSON I
Drs. PIA ALISJAHBANA

Pia Alisjahbana (Bondowoso, 26 July 1933) graduated from the English Department Faculty of Letters, University of Indonesia, 1959.  Starting her career as a lecturer at the English Department, Faculty of Letters, University of Indonesia, and later became the Head of the English Department. She was the founder of the American Studies Graduate Program at UI and she also founded the American Studies Center UI. She is now the commissary of the FEMINA group which publishes 12 magazines, a.o. Femina, Gadis, Ayahbunda, Fit, Readers’ Digest Indonesia and many more and one radio station. FEMINA was first published in 1972, followed by GADIS in 1973 which was started by her.

She is Trustee of several important foundations for arts, education, environment and heritage a.o the Foundation of the National Archives Building, the Asih Budi Foundation, The American Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF), the Jakarta Arts Foundation; the WWF Foundation, the Nusantara Symphony Orchestra, Sunda Kelapa Educational Foundation, USINDO (US- Indonesia Society); she is council member of the School of Business & Management, The Bandung Institute of Technology, she is one of the founders and trustee of the BPPI / Indonesian Heritage Trust, she is a Board member of the Society for the Performing Arts,  International Council Member of the Asia Society (based in New York.

VICE CHAIRPERSON II
Ir. RUDY J. PESIK

Rudy Pesik (Singapore, April 2, 1941) graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. He is the founder and chairman of more than 70 companies with 250 branch offices throughout Indonesia and operating in 15 countries.
He has also played an active role in KADIN in the Foreign Investment compartment and Foreign Trade compartment. He was elected as first Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ABAC) which was established on April 10, 2003 and formed the first ASEAN Business & Investment Summit (A-BIS) in October 2003. He is Vice President of ASEAN Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ASEAN-CCI) and Vice President of Confederation of Asia Pacific Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACCI). He is an active speaker on ASEAN and its Business Dialog and its transition into the EABC.
He served as Chairman of the restoration projects for the old city for Batavia (Jakarta) and the greening of Jakarta. In 2004 he established the CEO CIRCLE as Chairman and co-founder of the CEO Magazine. Since 2005 he is on the board of INACRAFT/ASEPHI and active in the conservation of Indonesian National Heritage collections.

VICE CHAIRPERSON III
HASHIM DJOJOHADIKUSUMO

Hashim Djojohadikusumo (Jakarta, 5 June 1954) has been Vice Chairman III of Board of Directors of the Indonesian Heritage Trust, since September 2007.
After graduated from elementary school, he continued his junior high school at Quintin Grammar School in London, and later he graduated his senior high school at Singapore American School in Singapore. He moved in United States, graduated his bachelor in Politic and Economy Science from Panorama College, Claremont, California, 1976. He gained experiences as financial analyst from Lazard Freres Et Cie in France.
In civic and social organization, he founded a family foundation for social activities.
He is one of Indonesian philanthropies who provides the contribution to the heritage conservation effort.

Ir. CATRINI P. KUBONTUBUH M.Arch

Catrini Pratihari Kubontubuh (Denpasar, 26 January 1972) graduated from Institute Technology of Bandung- Indonesia (1995, Bachelor degree of Urban and Regional Planning) and Universiteit of Katholieke Leuven – Belgium (1997, master degree of Architecture in Human Settlement). She had involved in Center for Research of Institute Technology Bandung 1997-1998. She served as lecturer at University of Bung Hatta Padang 1999 and guest lecturer at local and international universities. She has strong eagerness in heritage activities shown by her intention as founder for some Heritage Trust organization around Indonesia a.o. The West Sumatera Heritage Trust (1999), Bali Kuna Heritage Society (2000), Bali Heritage Trust (2000), the Indonesian Network for Heritage Conservation/JPPI (2000). In 2004 the Indonesian Heritage Trust (BPPI) was established and she was elected as the first Executive Secretary of the Indonesian Heritage Trust for the period 2004-2007. In the year 2007 she was elected as the Executive Director of BPPI.  
She currently works as consultant for Social Sector of The World Bank Jakarta. She specializes in Heritage program and some other projects in Indonesia related with community participation and culture creativities.
In 2007 she received award for her 10 years dedication in heritage conservation, recognized as one of ten “Most Indonesian Inspiring Women”.

TANGIBLE HERITAGE INTEREST
Ir. BAMBANG ERYUDHAWAN IAI

Bambang Eryudhawan ( Tokyo, 25 December 1962)  received his degree in architecture at Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), 1988. He has taught at Trisakti University (1989-1993 and 1995-1996), Mercu Buana University (1995-1997), and Bina Nusantara University (1999-2006).
He was involved in the formation of Indonesian Young Architects Forum 1989. In 1991 he was invited (with nine others Indonesian) to join USIS-Program on Preservation of Cultural Heritage for a month. He attended National Trust for Historic Preservation Conference in San Francisco and took a heritage trip to Santa Fe, New Orleans and Washington D.C. In 2003, he represented JPPI (jaringan Pelestari Pusaka Indonesia) at 10th International Conference of National Trust in Edinburgh.

 He is co-editor of Arsitek Muda Indonesia: Penjelajahan 1990-1995 (1996) and 95 Tahun SK Trimurti: Pejuang Indonesia (2007). He is member of Jakarta Urban Architecture Advisory Board, Jakarta Conservation Board, and Jakarta Park Agency Advisory Board. He is a personnel of Yayasan Bung Karno (Sukarno Foundation) since 2001. He served as President of Indonesian Institute of Architects Jakarta Chapter for two terms (2000-2003 and 2003-2006).

NATURAL HERITAGE & CULINARY INTEREST
BONDAN WINARNO

Bondan Winarno (Surabaya, 29 April 1950), an architect by training, is better known as a journalist and writer. He is regarded as the country’s best investigative journalist, one of the most influential columnists, and has published more than 20 books on various subjects. Before deciding to enter an early retirement, he was chief editor of Jakarta’s largest evening newspaper.
His involvement in conservation includes a stint as executive director of a nature conservation program, and secretary general of the foundation of Surakarta royal palace. For his dedication to the country, he has received a Medal for Merits from the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
In his second life, he pioneered a unique television program promoting traditional foods. Although the program is quickly copy-cat by many other television stations, he remains the top in the league

ARCHAEOLOGICAL INTEREST
Dr. DAUD TANUDIRDJO

Daud Aris Tanudirjo (Klaten, 24 July 1959), teaching staff and researcher in the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

He got his first degree in Archaeology from Gadjah Mada University, and his MA and PhD in Archaeology from the Australian National University, Canberra. He actively involves in trainings and consultations on Cultural Resource Management and Museum Management. A member of several professional organizations including Association of Indonesian Archaeologists and Indo-Pacific Prehistory Association. Indonesian delegate in the 30th session UNESCO World Heritage Committee di Vilnius, Luania (2006)

INTANGIBLE HERITAGE INTEREST
ENDO SUANDA, MA

Endo Suanda (Majalengka, 14 July 1947) raised in a village in West Java where from an early age he studied and performed traditional arts (music, dance, theatre, puppetry). 
He entered the dance academies in Bandung (1967-72) and Yogyakarta (1973-77) and became a civil-servant, but then resigned to become a freelance artist in both traditional and modern works. He studied ethnomusicology at Wesleyan University (1979-83) and the University of Washington (1987-91) in the US. He has taught, performed, directed, undertaken research, participated in seminars, and conducted workshops in many regions in Indonesia and around the world.
He was the chairman of the Society for Indonesian Performing Arts (1977-2001). Presently he is the director of Lembaga Pendidikan Seni Nusantara (multicultural art education, Jakarta), the Manager of Gong art magazine (Yogyakarta), director of Tikar Media (audiovisual documentation of traditional arts), member of Akademi Jakarta, and the member of BPPI board of directors. He is a member (National Liason) of International Council for Traditional Music.

HERITAGE EMERGENCY RESPONSE
DR. EKO ALVARES Z.

Eko Alvares Zaidulfar ( Padangpanjang, 10 March 1965) graduated his bachelor  from Architecture Department  of Parahyangan University - Bandung, Master Degree of Architecture from Technology Institute of  Bandung and Doctorate  in Architecture from Gadjah Mada University - Yogyakarta.  Active in various activities of heritage conservation, served as volunteer  at  Bandung Society for Heritage Conservation (1986), Sumatra Heritage Trust (1997), founder of The Heritage Trust of West Sumatera (2000), took a part in establishment of Indonesian Network for Heritage Conservation / JPPI (2000), and later became member of  BPPI Board of Directors since 2007. Starting his career  as a lecturer at Architecture Department, Bung Hatta University – Padang, and later became Head of Center for Conservation Architecture (PUSAKA), Bung Hatta University.  His major practice is planning and conservation for historical building. He served as President of Indonesian Institute of Architects West Sumatera  Chapter for 2003-2007. He is actively working for disaster response and mitigation for Acheh and West Sumatra, whereas he founded Tsunami Preparedness Community / Komunitas Siaga Tsunami ( KOGAMI) in West Sumatra.

HERITAGE INTERNATIONAL NETWORK
Drs. FRANCES B. AFFANDY

 

Frances B. Affandy (USA, 25 January 1945) graduated from Baccalaureate degree, Taipei American School, Republic of China 1963, and  BA Cultural Anthropology, San Francisco State University, California,  USA 1968.
She has been lecturer at  School of Business Management, Institut Technologi Bandung (ITB) since 2005 to present.
She was the co-founder and Executive Director of Bandung Society for Heritage Conservation, West Java. She responsible for the routine operations of the society that has some 600 members. Since 1996 she has been VP Chairman ICOMOS Indonesia, a consultant for UNESCO in the field of immovable and intangible heritage. She responsible for maintenance of communications with members  in   Indonesia and the  international secretariat in Paris. 
She worked for several big hotels in top level positions all over the world, a.o Nepal; New York City; Boston, Mass., USA; Bandung, West Java. 

She is author of papers on topics ranging from tourism marketing to cultural tourism, heritage trails, destination marketing, cultural inventories, organization dynamics, multi-culturism.

HERITAGE COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
Drs. HASTI TAREKAT, MSI

Hasti Tarekat (Semarang, 12 July 1966) started her involvement in heritage in 1993 as a volunteer for Bandung Heritage Society and an internship with the National Trust of New South Wales, Sydney. In 1998 she established Sumatra Heritage Trust in Medan and later Pan-Sumatra Network for Heritage Conservation. In 2003 the UNESCO Asia Pacific awarded “Heritage Award for Merit” for the refurbishing of a historical bridge in Medan that led by her. In 2004 she initiated capacity building trainings for all members of the Pan-Sumatra Network in cooperation with Urban Solutions, Rotterdam. She also involved in activities of the modern Asia Architecture Network (mAAN) and the International Field School of Asian Heritage (IFSAH).
She has researched the regulation of protected buildings for her masters degree and contributed for the Urban Culture Encyclopedia  published by the Yale University.

Since 2005 she domiciles in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She is Associate of Urban Solutions and part-time teacher of international masters degree museology in the Reinwardt Academy. In 2006 she was selected to join the Stepping Stones program which was initiated by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture & Science to enhance professionalism in heritage sector. She is also member of the Friends of City Centre Amsterdam. Her current task is the representative of the Indonesia Heritage Trust in the Netherlands

EDUCATION & CULTURAL LANDSCAPE
DR. LARETNA T. ADISHAKTI

Laretna T Adishakti (Yogyakarta, 19 October 1958) is a Lecturer and Coordinator of the Center for Heritage Conservation at the Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. She is also a painter and an ikebana practitioner. Laretna received her Doctorate in Engineering from Kyoto University, while her Master of Architecture degree is from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA.

Currently, Laretna facilitates the International Field School on Asian Heritage, also the International Field School on Borobudur Cultural Landscape. She is a Member of the Asian Academy for Heritage Management, UNESCO-ICCROM, a member of the International Council on Monument and Sites (ICOMOS), the KERUPUK/Komunitas Peduli Ruang Publik Jogja (Community of Jogja Public Space and the Eisenhower Fellowship and the Chairperson and co-founder of the Jogja Heritage Society. In 2006, she served as Selection Committee for Rolex Award for Enterprises.

HERITAGE INVESTMENT
Ir. POPO DANES

Popo Danes (Denpasar, 6 February 1964) began designing a series of residential houses, private villas and small beachfront hotels in late 1980’s, before graduating from University of Udayana, Bali with a thesis project on the Ubud Art Club and Gallery in 1991 and becoming a member of the Indonesian Institute of Architects in 1992. With a scholarship from The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, Popo traveled to the Netherlands on a group study exchange in 1992, where he indulged his fascination with European modernism during trips to design studios, museums, and construction sites.
With over sixty completed projects to his credit since 1987, Popo Danes is now one of the Bali’s most prominent and acclaimed architects. In 1993, he formally established his own architectural design firm, ‘Popo Danes Architect’. He has designed private residences, restaurants, boutique hotels, villas and resorts in a number of locations around the world, but particularly in his beloved Bali.

He is one of twelve Balinese contributors to a book entitled “Bali - Living In Two Worlds, a critical self portrait”, published by The Cultural Museum of Basel Switzerland, 2001; and owns two media publications – “Bog-Bog”, a Bali cartoon magazine, and “Magic Wave”, a surfing tabloid. Popo has also been awarded a number of prestigious Indonesian Architectural prizes.

HERITAGE PARTNERSHIP
Ir. SUHADI HADIWINOTO

Suhadi Hadiwinoto (Jakarta, 17 December 1941), an architect graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). In his 17 years work at the Jakarta City Planning Department he held various position among others in housing, public facilities, and urban conservation. His team initiated the frameworks and guidelines for Jakarta conservation districts. His latest position was the Deputy Chief of the City Planning Department.

In 1985 he moved to the Jakarta Regional Planning Board (Bappeda DKI) as the Head of the Infrastructure and Physical Planning Division.He was invited by the World Bank to be the National Program Coordinator of the Metropolitan Environmental Improvement Program (MEIP) in Indonesia 1990.He joined the Urban Development Sector as Senior Urban Specialist 1998. In the World Bank he focused in the social and cultural issues, particularly in the community development and participatory process in urban planning and development. In 2003 he retired from the World Bank, and then he was more active with the CSOs. In the year 2000, Suhadi together with friends from local heritage conservation organizations of various regions prepared the establishment of the Indonesian Network for Heritage Conservation (JPPI). In 2004 the Indonesian Heritage Trust (BPPI) was established by various representatives of local heritage conservation organizations, universities, and NGOs. Suhadi was elected as the first Executive Director of the Indonesian Heritage Trust for the period 2004-2007

CONSERVATION POLICY & GUIDELINE
Ir.WIDYA WIJAYANTI, MPH., M.URP., IAI

Widya Wijayanti (Magelang, 16 September 1953), a registered architect and urban & regional planner. She was a faculty member of Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University (1982-1999). She has been in the historic preservation movement since 1982. She also organizes serial music/dance performance in heritage buildings in Semarang (2004 – present) as part of historic preservation campaign.    
She has worked with Semarang Pecinan Community in Kopi Semawis, a community based organization for the revitalization of the historic district and developed programs, including revitalizing annual pre-Chinese new year’s eve market; and developing Warung Semawis, a weekend local food market.   
She was graduated, awarded engineer degree, from Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University in 1982; and was awarded master’s degrees from Department of Public Health Sciences, School of Public Health (1989) and Department of Urban and Regional Planning, College of Social Sciences (1990) University of Hawai’i at Manoa.
 

   

 

ARCHITECTURE HISTORICAL STUDIES
DR. YUSWADI SALIYA

Yuswadi Saliya (Bandung, 15 June 1938) graduated his bachelor from the Architecture Department, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), 1966; Master of Architecture from Hawaii,1975;  and Doctoral degree from ITB, 2005.
His major is history, theory and critics of architecture. Starting his career as a lecturer at the Architecture Department, ITB and later became the Head of Architecture Department, ITB on 1979-1985, the Vice Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, ITB, 1985-1988. He is currently a lecturer at master program of the Architecture Department, at ITB and Parahyangan University.

He is chairman of Lembaga Sejarah Arsitektur Indonesia (LSAI), an institution for Indonesian architecture history. He has been member of Advisory Team for Jakarta’s urban architecture since 2000. He is  a member of BPPI Board of Directors since 2004.

INTERNAL AFFAIRS COORDINATOR
Ir. EUNIKE PRASASTI

Eunike Prasasti (Jakarta, 25 May 1968) has a background in Architecture. She was graduated from University of Indonesia in 1992. Before joining with BPPI, she has worked as an Architect as well as an Interior Designer in some companies i.e. PT Matahari Putra Prima, PT Utama Tiga Diharja, PT Graha Cipta Interindo and Studio Design Consultant.
Her interest in Vernacular Architecture, History of Architecture, Art and Traditional Culture has taken her into BPPI which has vision in saving Indonesian Heritage as well as hers. She was joined with BPPI in 2006 as a treasurer volunteer.

Her enthusiasm has been motivating her into learn new things in doing BPPI’s program as well as her private activities. Now, professionally she works as an Internal Coordinator in BPPI.

EXTERNAL AFFAIRS COORDINATOR
Drs. ASEP KAMBALI

Asep Kambali (Cianjur, 16 July 1980) graduated from Historic Education at Social Faculty,  Universitas Negeri Jakarta, 2007.  He currently actives as guest lecturer at Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Previously he became a senior high school teacher on the history subject, 2003.
He was founder and chairman of the Historia Community Indonesia. He facilitates community and enhance their awareness on Indonesian history and culture. Recent, he involves actively as BPPI external affairs coordinator, as well as his other organization a.o Forum Menteng and Paguyuban Kota Tua.

He has many experiences as resources at various television programs on Indonesia history and heritage appreciation.

VIRGINIA RUSLI, SIP, M.Sc.

Virginia Rusli (Jakarta, 12 July 1969) graduated from the Faculty of Social and Political Science, University of Parahyangan. She has a master degree in Sport Psychology from University of Indonesia.
She is an athlete manager. She manages Angelique Widjaja, the former number one Indonesian tennis player, and some junior players.
She is the Editor in Chief of Clara Magazine, a woman lifestyle magazine.
